Hot Vinyasa flow- A challenging and dynamic yoga practice that focuses on muscle strengthening and cardiovascular endurance. Breath and movement are synchronised in a graceful flowing sequence, enhancing awareness of the mind/body connection.
Ashtanga Vinyasa- One of the more athletic forms of yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa is dynamic and physically demanding. The foundation of this ancient practice was pioneered by Shri.T.Krishnamacharya who shared his knowledge with a number of influential students who went onto become well loved and respected “gurus” in their own right.
Students today will be led through some or all of a set sequence. This sequence is postures (asanas). Practiced in a particular order and known as the Primary series. The practice aims to build heat in the body to help it to open and to release toxins. When practised regularly, it can become a moving meditation, developing strength, flexibility, stamina and ultimately a still and focused mind.
Iyengar Yoga- Sri B.K.S Iyengar studied with Krishnamacharya and has been teaching “Iyengar” for 70 years. His style is known for being vigorous and in depth in understanding asana. Precision in alignment and pranayama enables orderly and safe progression in personal practice.
Hatha Yoga- Hatha yoga is about the union of opposites. Hatha yoga aims to harmonise body, mind and spirit.
Hath(a)-Yoga does not merely at making students feel better on a physical level. It contains intense ascetic practices for physical and psychic purification. It is a path to a full enlightenment or Self-realization. It goes into great detail not only regarding asana, but also pranayama (breath), mantra and meditation.
Yin Yoga- Yin Yoga consists of long-held, floor based poses that stretch the tendons and ligaments. This practice goes beyond the muscle to create space and energy, helping to restore balance in body and mind. Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular styles of yoga.
Throughout the practice of Yin Yoga, mindfulness meditation is explored. Through mindfulness, we learn to abide in the present Yin yoga can increase flexibility, prevent injury and lead students to find a deep sense of peace in mind and body.
Integral Yoga- Integral Yoga is based on the teachings of Swami Satchidinanda which combines the various paths of Yoga which are adapted to the individual. Strength and flexibility are balanced. It’s a classic approach with a modern twist.
Pregnancy Yoga- Yoga Room recommends that pregnancy yoga is practiced from 14 weeks to term. Suitable for all- complete beginners to advanced students.
Breathing and postures are linked to ease mums-to-be through pregnancy and labour.
Children’s Yoga- Classes offer a fun and non-competitive space to learn to practice Yoga safely. Yoga can empower children with confidence, awareness, focus and strength, both physically and emotionally. Traditional yoga poses are inter-woven with play, stories, games, song and movement.
Yoga has been promoted by the government as part of their healthy initiative programme for children as a way to combat stress. Children can learn about themselves developing healthy and positive attitudes.
